Walicki-Popiolek Duo is an extraordinary guitar and piano duo. Aleksandra Popiolek-Walicki and Jakub Walicki have been working with each other since 2014. In 2020 they were awarded with a prestigious scholarship given by Narodowe Centrum Kultury to the most talented young artists in Poland. They won several prizes in International Chamber Music Competitions among others:
▪ III place in “Vitti Competition”
▪ II place in XXV Chamber Music Competition in Lamporecchio
▪ II place in XXI International Chamber Music Competition "Euterpe" in Corato.
They are searching for new sounds in XVIII century music as well as looking for sparkling rhythms in Spanish melodies. This ensemble is also focusing on contemporary music, cooperating with composers such as Dusan Bogdanovic, William Bland, Serge Di Mosole, Aleksandra Chmielewska, Ewa Fabianska-Jelinska, Jan Oleszkowicz, Adrian Robak and many others. They perform and record works never introduced before.
Aleksandra and Jakub promoted their first album “Iberico” in 2019 and immediately started working on the newest project “Made in Poland”. As a result they will release their second cd in January 2021.
Walicki-Popiolek Duo is actively performing, playing concerts in Poland and other European countries. They are also engaged in charity, sharing classical music to those who somehow got cut off live classical music rendering.
